Event Info

In collaboration with The North Star Clay Target Foundation, Northbrook Sports Club is offering a new competitive opportunity for collegiate shooters.

​

In conjunction with the NSCA U.S. Open, Northbrook will host the "Collegiate U.S. Open" The collegiate event will be scored on the 200 target main sporting clays event over three days.

​

Sign Up Information

Competitors are not required to shoot with their teammates and can shoot whichever rotation they would like.

​

The team coach or team organizer must sign up for their team through this link HERE.

​

Individual team members must sign up for the tournament through Score Chaser HERE.

​

Collegiate teams may submit as many team members as they would like to compete for a prize pool of over 30 thousand dollars generously donated by the  North Star Clay Target Foundation.

Our purpose is to foster education in the proper conduct and effective techniques of shotgun target shooting and the safe and efficient handling of shotguns in the northern Illinois area and to promote national and international amateur sports competitions in shotgun clay target shooting in this region.

Northbrook Sports Club is one of the premier Sporting Clays facilities in the world. It is the perfect place for competitors to test their skills in a challenging environment with varied terrain and challenging target setting. We aim to host a fun and competitive inaugural Collegiate Sporting Clays U.S. Open.

About

 

This document serves as an official guide to the rules and regulations for the Collegiate U.S. Open Sporting Clays Tournament. Participants and coaches are advised to review these provisions thoroughly to ensure compliance and understanding of the tournament's structure and prize distribution.

 

Team Registration and Composition

 

  • Unlimited Registrations: 

    • Coaches are permitted to register an unlimited number of participants from their collegiate teams.

  • Score Calculation: 

    • For each team, the top three scores from the 200 Bird Main Sporting Clays event from participating members will be aggregated to determine the team's standing in the tournament.

  • Mandatory Participation in Main Event:

    • All collegiate tournament participants must also be registered for the main U.S. Open Sporting Clays event. There is no separate entry fee for the collegiate segment.

  • The team must be a recognized ACUI and/or SCTP collegiate team.

  • Roster Eligibility: 

    • All members of the team must be currently eligible, meeting the necessary criteria set by ACUI & SCTP

    • A minimum of three participants must be signed up per team to be qualified for prize money.

  • Account Requirement: 

    • The team must have an active and current account with Midway USA.

  • Prize Eligibility:

    • Per their rules and policies, any prize allocations will be awarded to the respective team's account with Midway USA.

 

Prize Money Allocation

The North Star Clay Target Foundation has generously provided the prize money for this competition. Please note that these allocations may be adjusted by the event organizers in the event of a lack or surplus of teams. The current allocations are as follows:

 

                               Top Three Teams:

​

  • Contribution to Midway Account: $3,500 per team.

  • Individual Prize for Team Members: $500 each.

 

                   Teams Placing Fourth to Eighth:

​

  • Contribution to Midway Account: $2,500 per team.

  • Individual Prize for Team Members: $300 each.

 

Distribution and Winner Eligibility

 

One-Time Winning Rule: Teams are only eligible to win once. Subsequent high placements by a previously winning team will result in the award being passed to the next eligible team.

 

Adjustments Based on Participation: Should the tournament not fill all team slots, the prize distribution will be proportionally increased for participating teams.

 

Financial Management

Handling of Funds: All prize money transactions will be processed through a designated Midway account, excluding payments to the student-athlete.

Rule Changes: 

  • The organizers reserve the right to amend the tournament rules and prize distributions. Such changes will be communicated to all registered teams and coaches.

Responsibility to Stay Informed: 

  • Each team and its coach are responsible for staying informed of any updates or changes to these rules.

Payout

  • The total payout of $30,500 is guaranteed; however, the distribution is subject to change.

Conclusion
